Sub drop

That crash a day or two after a big scene, when the chemicals wear off and you feel off for reasons you can’t quite name. Normal, temporary, and a lot easier with a bit of care.

You can have a really good scene and still feel like crap two days later. People call that drop, and it’s more common than you’d guess.

The science is pretty simple. Play floods you with endorphins and adrenaline, and your body can’t keep that up forever. When the levels dip back down, some people dip with them. Sometimes it hits an hour later. Just as often it shows up the next day or the day after, which is why people tend to blame work, or the weather, or themselves.

How it tends to feel: flat. Kind of raw. You might want a hug more than usual, or snap at someone over nothing. Some people feel physically wiped out, almost like a mild hangover. Others start replaying the scene and wondering if they were too much, even though it felt amazing at the time.

It doesn’t mean anything went wrong. It’s a comedown, and it fades. You can help it along though. Drink water, eat something real, get to bed early, wrap up in something soft. And if you were the top, send a text the next day. Drop usually lands when you’re no longer in the same room, so that small check-in counts for more than you’d think.

If you’re the one feeling it, say so. Your partner would rather know. And if it hangs around past a few days or starts to feel darker than a comedown should, talk to a friend or a professional.

One more thing: tops get it too.
