Who we are

VelvetTalks is an adult sex-education and fiction content site. For any privacy question or request, contact us at support@velvettalks.com.

Adults only

VelvetTalks is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Information we collect

• Account details: your email address, display name, and password. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes — we never store or see your actual password.
• Community activity: comments you post, items you favourite, and your recent reading history, linked to your account.
• Messages: the name, email address, and message content you submit through the contact form.
• Newsletter: your email address, if you subscribe.
• Security data: a hashed (non-reversible) form of your IP address and your browser’s user-agent string, used for rate limiting and abuse prevention.

Cookies and local storage

• vt_session — an essential, HttpOnly login cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. It is set only after you log in.
• Theme preferences are kept in your browser’s sessionStorage and reset when you close the tab.
• If the cookie-consent banner is enabled, your consent choice is stored in localStorage.
• Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) are used only where analytics is enabled and, in regions where required, only after you consent.

How we use information

• Provide accounts, comments, favourites, and reading history.
• Send emails you request: verification codes, replies to your messages, and the newsletter.
• Protect the site against spam, abuse, and automated attacks.
• Understand aggregate site usage where analytics is enabled.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Services we rely on

• Cloudflare — hosting, storage, and Turnstile bot protection. Cloudflare processes IP addresses and browser information to serve and secure the site.
• Resend — delivers verification emails, contact-form notifications, and the newsletter.
• Google Analytics — aggregate usage statistics, only where enabled and consented.

These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy terms. Data may be processed on servers located in the United States and other countries.

Data retention

• Email verification codes expire after 10 minutes.
• Login sessions last up to 30 days; logging out deletes the session.
• Security and rate-limit records are kept briefly for abuse prevention.
• Account data, comments, and favourites are kept until you ask us to delete them.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct, export, or delete the personal information we hold about you at any time by emailing support@velvettalks.com. Newsletter emails include an unsubscribe link.

Depending on where you live (for example the EU/EEA, the UK, or California), you may have additional statutory rights. We honour access and deletion requests regardless of where you live.

Security

All traffic is encrypted with TLS. Passwords are hashed with a strong key-derivation function (PBKDF2), IP addresses are stored only as hashes, and administrative interfaces are access-controlled. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a unique password for your account.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site evolves. We will change the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, post a notice on the site.
