Glossary

Ords: What you are, discerning reader: an Ordinary person. At one time ‘Ords’ included all hominins except for H. perfectio and H. secundii. Today, ‘Ords’ refer to the majority of Sapiens: those who are not Acolytes within the Echelon.

Sentinel-Q: The most ancient, sacred, order, created to protect Ords from tbe ‘Unnatural.’ A council made up of the most decorated Perfectios, Sentinel-Q demands allegiance from its Sentinels. Though, today, its authority has been significantly diluted, and it operates by the will of the Echelon.

Sentinels: H. perfectio and H. secundii are, by their very nature, the protectors of the Ord race.  

Acolytes (H. sapien) can also be Sentinels, but they don’t operate within Sentinel-Q but rather report directly to the Echelon instead.

Αρχάριος:  Archários: the label given to a trainee, originally a young Secundii, being trained in the early years by their parent. The term has since been appropriated by the Acolytes (AKA, ‘Ringbearers’).

The ‘Mark’: Both H. perfectio and H. secundii possess an inherited mark within their right palms. Generally invisible to outsiders, this mark gives its wearer various abilities, as well as superior health, and extended lifespan, beyond that of H. sapien. 

Echelon: The secret society set up to protect humanity, made up of Homo perfectio and Homo secundii. Eventually it was taken over by the Acolytes.

Today, the Echelon is the Council that controls the non-humans (the ‘Unnatural’) and governs/rules the human—Sapien—world. It contains three tiers of Councilmen, mostly Acolytes.

The Alliance: Originally an inter-species non-human Council which the first Sentinels were invited to. With the demise of many of the ‘Unnatural’ it was eventually absorbed into the Acolyte-led Echelon.  

The Moderator: The head of the Echelon, elected by those council members.

The Unifyer: A special position created by the Moderator. Their broad role is to maintain the order, and secrecy, of the Echelon.

Acolytes: Ords who are within—and aware—of the secretive and purposeful nature of the Echelon. Also called ‘Ring Bearers,’ each have their own ring which activates when touching another’s ring.

The ring also operates as a key for Echelon vehicles and facilities.

Guards: A lesser position, for Acolytes who do not attain the position of ‘Sentinel.’

The Merge: The public copulation between a Secundii and an Acolyte.

Merge Day: The official day for the above public copulation act.

Merge-Mate: The label given to those who have been selected to publicly ‘Merge’. The two must continue to co-habit until a male child—and future Sentinel—is born, at which point they can go their separate ways… if they so choose.

Meld-Mate: The label given to Secundii partners, if the ‘Mark’ designates them as ‘compatible couples.’

Mind-Meld: A practice where one can ‘enter’ the mind of another, to see and experience from their perspective. Only used by some filthy Unnaturals.

The ‘Unnatural’: Creatures not of this world. They comprise many species including Thauma, and Vampyr, among many others.

Hybrids: A hybrid is the product of the copulation between an Ordinary person (an ‘Ord’) and the ‘Unnatural’. ‘Witches’ are hybrids from Thauma-Sapien intercourse, while ‘Vampires’ are hybrids from Vampyr-Sapien relations.

Thoughts: Thoughts are expressed in italics · With an ‘interpunct’ (or middot) separating thoughts · Capitals start each new thought or new interconnected thought · Punctuation marks at the end: full stop; exclamation mark; or a question mark.

The exception to this rule: the use of italics for Latin names for various hominins. For example, ‘Homo sapien’

Telepathy: “A combination of thought and speech · It is shown by the italics of thought, and the double quotation marks of communication.· Like thoughts, it uses the interpunct to end and begin new thoughts.”

Haiku: Blake uses ‘Haiku’ when they speak, generally a 5-6-5 pattern. To designate the poetic nature, each line is separated by: ‘···’ (three consecutive interpuncts).

Underlines: Since all thinking is in italics, words which need to be emphasized are, instead, underlined.

≈ Small Bold Capitals with the tilde symbol before and after ≈: Designates a form of ≈ Mind Control≈ that some ‘people’ have. Mind Control can be exerted through thought, telepathy, or speech.

Multiple Exclamation Marks:‘!!!!!!’ designates the number of people exclaiming something at the same time. Most often used with the conversations of the six friends. The same goes for: ‘??’—in this case, designating two people who question in unison.

Twin’s Interconnected Talk: “Where one starts ··· the three interpuncts designates the other talking ··· with both, generally, finishing off the sentence!!”
